Fully "inflated" in an hour, used the same night. I haven't slept in weeks and had terrible pain in my shoulder (I sleep on my side). I slept like a log the first night. It didn't smell. Any foam topper will add some warmth to your sleep, that's the nature of foam. But it's not too hot and has good ventilation. I've had it for about a month now and it's still like new. Soft enough to give me pressure points (shoulders, hips) but firm enough that you don't drown in it, and it supports the parts of my body that aren't pressure points. Fits perfectly on my large mattress and measures exactly 3 inches. Doesn't slide sideways like some toppers. Very happy with it.
