As some other reviewers mentioned, there are no pre-drilled holes for the screws that hold the crossbar. I suppose using a real screwdriver or drill is a simple solution, but I didn’t buy a cheap furniture build because I wanted to use a drill or spend an evening solving assembly problems. Also, I’m not sure the "wood” of the legs would stand up to the pressure needed to drill a screw in. I could hear it creeeeaaak when I tightened the first screws that hold the legs on. I intended to have it reupholstered, but I didn’t feel confident that the frame would last very long. Also, The look of the ottoman just wasn’t worth it. It’s definitely square, so the item photos are rather misleading. I sent it back.
