I was REALLY looking forward to this mattress topper. I am sure it will be great for the vast majority of people who order it, but I prefer mine softer than this topper provides.My previous topper was a Serta cooling gel 3-inch memory foam. That one did not have the grooves, so I was really excited to try the different patterns on this one. I sank into my previous topper, which I really liked. I don't really get any sinking or cradling in this topper.The description states that the bottom portion is bamboo charcoal memory foam. It may actually be made of that material, but it feels, compresses, and rebounds just like a somewhat firm regular foam; not memory foam. I am guessing this bottom layer is what is giving me the overall stiffer feeling.Let me state that this is NOT a hard or stiff mattress overall, and I like to sleep softer than most, so most people will like this. It is just not nearly as soft as I expected coming from a similar 3-inch topper. Unfortunately, I'll be returning it.
