The camera is fine. - Digital cameras

This camera takes good pictures. Although not very well. Kind of boring. I've used it a lot in concerts and it worked well for what I needed. Then I got a cell phone with a good camera. A year unused. The battery was empty and could not be charged due to deep discharge. I didn't want to buy an external charger so I figured out what to do myself. How to update my Nikon S4000 digital camera to firmware v1.3 for free with dead battery: I had trouble updating my camera. The battery was dead and wouldn't charge because it was completely dead and didn't have an update. The update fixes this issue, but if your battery is low, the update fails to install. To charge the battery to upgrade it I would have to buy a separate charger and I didn't want that. I connected it to the charger and let it charge for 5 days hoping it would charge up a bit but that didn't happen. Nothing worked. Then I thought. How about a low voltage DC plug? Like an old cell phone charger or an old homemade cell phone charger. But it must be low voltage. Be sure to read the specifications of the charger. So I went through my bag of old plugs and found one that was 5 volts. I checked it with my voltmeter and it showed 5.6 volts. The battery in the camera is 3.7 volts. 5 volts is a very high voltage for charging the battery, but that's all I had. It is best to use a maximum of 4.2 volts. When charging with too high a voltage, the battery can melt or catch fire! I cut off the plug. Cleaned up the cables. Glued them to the battery to connect them to the battery. Plugged in and charged for 30 minutes. I then put it in the camera and plugged it into my computer to charge it fully. My computer said it was 65%! After 3 hours connected to the computer, it was 100% charged! Then I downloaded the firmware update from the Nikon website. And followed their instructions to update it. Now it's updated and if ever the battery runs out completely, it'll charge well because there's an update. I have my camera back! Continue reading: [.]
