Review on Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G IF-ED Zoom Lens with Auto Focus - Ideal for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Kio Flyx ᠌

I would definitely recommend the purchase, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

The most common zoom lens. For me - the main glass for photo shoots, wedding photography and reporting. In a pair, I usually use either a telephoto or a portrait lens on the second camera (for example: 50D 1.4). I recommend it for those who buy and forget about its cost, as they plunge into work (this glass will not let you down, it is for work, not reasoning). Its pros: Convenient for focal and comfortable to twist in your hands. What you need for Nikon crop cameras: the most working zoom lens. It has sufficient sharpness, almost no aberrations, has a high-quality assembly. When zooming, the lens itself adds quite a bit in length (about 2 cm), but this is not visible at all with the lens hood screwed on. Solid professional glass. Got cons: The lens hood does not hold well, although it has a latch (it flew off several times - an awkward moment). With the hood on, it almost completely covers the light from the autofocus backlight lamp (then remove the hood). On the D7100, it focuses poorly (or refuses to focus at all) if at least a small (tiny) light source enters the frame (some Tamron 28-75 is calmly aimed).
