Compared to CB-1 status audios (Z reviews made me buy these *sigh* #ZeosEffect)

I've compared these Koss headphones to the Status Audio CB-1 headphones that I use every day as I think they're great budget headphones for the beginner audiophile on a budget. Although the Koss headphones have significantly more bass (especially the mids), I didn't find them to sound as natural as the CB-1. I also found that on some tracks (like the UMI Cheerleader) that had some complexity and lots of bass, the Koss headphones sounded a bit distorted and the CB-1s, while not bass heavy, sounded more natural and accurate, and pleasing. I never have "listener fatigue" when using the CB-1 headphones, rather it's the other way around when I use them much longer than planned when listening to music. I think that's an intangible added benefit of great speakers and Koss headphones don't do that for me. Even though the koss headphones are very comfortable to wear, I can't forget that I wear them and just lose myself in them. the musical world they project around me so I'm constantly analyzing them technically in my head instead of just enjoying their music and that's why I only gave them 3 stars. I'm not criticizing the Koss headphones, they sound good but I wouldn't recommend them in the MUST category. I also don't think the Status Audio CB-1s are high-end headphones, so I think any headphones that Zeos highly recommend should sound SLIGHTLY better than the CB-1s. However, I received the sporty white and blue Koss headphones that I have. I have to admit they are really comfortable and look spectacular so I don't regret buying them, I just thought they were more audiophile than they really were. As backup headphones I think they'll do just fine, and being more portable than the CB-1 headphones I think they'll get some in-ear/air-time when I need to catch a flight.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
