After a month of research and technical support, the goods were returned. The microphone (internal or external) could not be tricked into picking up enough sound to be heard post-recording (only weak when cranked all the way up). Otherwise, the processing speed was noticeably faster compared to previous laptops. The screen became darker/dimmer. The speakers were a bit drained (I've often wondered if upgrading to Harmon Kardon really made a difference - now I know). I would buy it again if it had a working mic. In the age of online communication I needed a microphone and it wasn't there.
