Review on πŸ”΅ PRO ART Blue Graphic Cutting Mat, Ideal for Precise Crafting and Design Projects by Karla Richter

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Inexpensive, light duty only

This is my fourth cutting mat. I was looking for another one that was smaller than my table size 36" x 48" Alvin and larger than my 8" x 12" Alvin. 12" x 18" still fits in my travel bag but gives me more room to work. My longevity wishes. The cutting mat must withstand a variety of cuts from sharp objects. That's her lot in life. Advantages + Inexpensive. Slightly cheaper than the rest. + Good network. Good contrast. Good angles 30/45/60 degrees. + Beautiful translucent design. Can be used over a light table to increase visibility on materials that also transmit light. Disadvantages: fragility. I would be surprised by the way cuts heal on this "self-healing" cutting mat if it gave me the 25% longer life that I get from Alvin brand mats. Even the first cuts, made with a fresh, sharp blade without excessive pressure, left visible and easily felt cuts in the form of surface fractures. I have a one year old Alvin, he is in great shape. Conclusion Use this mat only if you don't use it for cutting too often. I made the mistake of giving Pro Art a third blow by purchasing two other Pro Art products that failed early due to poor design (e.g. a ruler that wears off the markings after a bit of use). I see no way of making that mistake again.
