ok so if your cats are only watching for litter outside of the box - this mat is a boss - does the job - get a big one my advice - and it works like a dream. HOWEVER - if you have a cat that pees overboard from time to time - RUN. DO NOT RECEIVE THIS CARPET. The urine just collects in the small holes and is difficult to clean, and by the time you get home to clean it, it will smell. You have to cover the entire mat and cleaning every single hole is not possible. every other "mess" that sticks to it doesn't come easy either. Even squirting out of the hose from the outside will not remove anything. So if you're a happy pet parent like me who has fur babies who love to mess things up and not just bedding, do yourself a favor and roll out flat vinyl floors or rubber mats that are easy to clean. . But please just let this review let people know that carpets are good - just rubbish.
