I'm passionate about technology, like any average modern person, but I've refrained from buying smartwatches because the current ones just don't meet the requirements. Here I am:- Train 2-3 times a week. (I don't need a heart monitor.) - I just want the smartwatch to alert me to messages. (No need to make calls from my wrist. No need to take photos from my smartwatch either.) - Requires decent battery life. (I don't want to charge it every day.) - The screen needs to be readable when I'm not at home. Thus, Vivoactive meets my requirements. And he can also do more than I need. There are third party apps like calculator, compass and even text messaging. Although these applications are easy to develop, they are reasonably functional. But for me I just use my smartphone, which is usually not far away. The screen in the sun is amazing. The more ambient light, the brighter the screen. Yes, the muzzle is dark in a dark room, but you have a backlight button for that. (If I have to check the clock at night, it's to see what time it is or what message I got. I'm not reading anything important.) Cool applications I've found are a weather widget and a music controller . . I use them a lot so I don't have to fish out my phone. Another thing I like is how fast the watch charges. It's a shame you have to use a proprietary charging dock, but you don't need to charge your watch every day, so it's not a big deal. Finally, the Connect app does a good job of just showing your activity. I mostly use what I see while I'm asleep. My only (sort of) regret is that I went with the white stripe. I think it looks better than black but also shows more dirt. But a simple wash will solve this problem. (By the way, this watch is very comfortable to wear - it's light and soft.) So if your needs are as simple as mine, this watch will make you happy. I have an expensive smartphone so I don't need a watch to do too much.
