do the ONLY thing in the washing machine then air dry Yes it's LAVA to do it that way but it reduces lint problems. The blanket is fantastic, four stars because I think they could have been better prepared before leaving the manufacturer. This will also likely help resolve lint issues that customers experience on their first few washes. It smelled like chemicals. As soon as I opened the package, I recognized what the smell was: spray for dyeing and sizing. I used to work at the Wrangle clothing factory and this blanket smelled exactly like paint barrels and like denim smelled before it was washed to remove it. Dye. I worked there 30 years ago but if I remember correctly it took four washes to remove excess dye and dye or odor from the material before it was sent to be cut. The next smell the material took on was the sizing (starch) which is sprayed on to help the item hold its shape during packaging, shipping and display. I sprayed the comforter with a mixture of white vinegar and water then left it in the sun on my porch for a few hours and the chemical smell was gone, I used it that night and love it. I'm in my 50's and finding a blanket that works with the crazy way my body heats up and cools down these days is a challenge. This blanket is exactly what I needed. Folded in half it's nice and warm, opened to the full size just enough to keep me from catching a cold but not so heavy that I get hot flashes that drive me out of bed. Last week I slept better than ever with this duvet. I will have to buy another one because my husband keeps stealing this! He said it reminded him of the blankets on the bunks in the warehouse he went to in the 60's, he said he didn't know they even made blankets like that lol. Wash and dry well. BEFORE they leave the factory. Would make this blanket a five star for me.
