I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this as there weren't any reviews yet, BUT I'M SO GLAD I DID! It is very soft on both sides. The shaggy side is really nice and flowy. She sheds a bit when you first get her, but that stops after a little use. I bought a "20 pound" blanket. I weighed it and it's 20 pounds total, but when you're under the covers it doesn't feel as heavy as you'd expect considering I'm in the 230 weight class. It's not just one big compartment, it has little squares. in it to keep the beads in that area. AND ALSO! It doesn't look like you're using a weird boxy weighted blanket. Overall: Really soft and warm, just wish it was heavier.
