this belt is robust. and the velcro does not come off. I ordered medium because my size is between small and medium and I wanted to be on the safe side. Better too much than too little, right? I could probably get away with a little as I have a VERY extra length to contend with when putting it on. I only use this sling as a gun sling without a belt or as a bottom sling for my utility sling. It does a great job of both. does not fold or twist easily. One day I might do something with that extra length that I don't need. Hm. I could reduce it or just eat more. decisions decisions.
