I have last year's Adidas FWD-01 headphones and love them so I ordered an Adidas RPD-01 to see what was improved. I prefer wired headphones so I don't have to worry about accidentally losing my headphones during intense workouts. If we compare the two models, then there are changes. First the earpiece. Much better. As with last year's model, Adidas offers 4 ear tips and earbuds. Model RPD-01 is smaller. The default option is smaller, and all earbuds are definitely smaller. The ear tips are easier to put on and now fit my ear very well which is an improvement. You can just use the earbuds and skip the wings. Another big difference from this year's model is the neckband. The design is completely different. It's a little lighter and feels more flexible, like rubber. It conforms to my neck, with thinner cords going to each earcup. The old system was more like a shoelace. This model keeps the cords under control and snug on the body, but the feel on the neck took some getting used to. The charging port is on the control pad (as opposed to one of the earbuds). These headphones hold a charge well. I've never had a problem with adidas headphones and loss of power. The Bluetooth connection is very simple. The reception is excellent. I can be out and about with my iPhone or iPad, travel around the house and have no interruptions or interruptions in reception. The sound quality is okay. I make sure to go to the Adidas app (Adidas headphones) and experiment with the equalizer settings. There's also a customizable button that can be programmed to connect to Spotify and a voice assistant with Siri. The three-button control panel sits on a flexible strap at the back of my neck. It's a simple grip and thumb press and stays in the same place no matter the activity. Connected to phone, skip forward, skip back, pause and adjust volume. The skip function works like fast forward and rewind 15 seconds for audio books and fast forward and rewind a standard song for music. On the other side of the strap there is a special button. This new model definitely has improvements over last year's offering. The only thing I'm missing, and a shortcoming, is easy and secure storage. Last year's model came with a small carry case. This new model comes without a case and the headphones feel more fragile. They lie flat but cannot be compacted or rolled up.
