Review on Highly Effective Homarden Cat Repellent Outdoor - 10-Piece Set of Cat Scat Mats - 16x13 Inches - with 1-inch Plastic Spikes - 13ft Coverage - Ultimate Cat Deterrent! by Michael Gonzales

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The perfect solution to keep the cat away from the aquarium and they are not ugly.

UPDATE: I just put one of the rugs on top of the fridge so the cat doesn't use it as a 'stepping stone' to the top of my kitchen cabinets where I display my old cookie jars. It was only a matter of time before he caused disaster there, but worry no more about that! I was also able to get my Scheffler plant from the garage where it has arrived since the cat. They are poisonous to cats and he would NOT leave him alone. Now I put two mats together and put a big plant on them and he just sits there and looks like he's wondering whose stupid idea it was to bring these things into our lives? I will order another pack! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought these to put on my 24" x 48" tank which has a flip screen lid framed in lightweight aluminum and my 3 year old axolotl (Mexican) salamander, Lilla , houses. , (love her to pieces!). A few months ago we got a kitten, or he took us, wandered to our rural farm. And of course he soon noticed Lilla and was at the top of the aquarium at every opportunity. I tried an automatic cat repellent spray, which stopped working almost immediately, and a rug runner I had on hand was turned upside down so the little "stay-in-place" gripping spikes were facing up. THAT discouraged him so much, but not in those days when he was very determined and courageous. He'll just "grin and take it" and now he seems to be taunting both me and Lilla! They also blocked light and air from above and were ugly. I found these mats at Revain and ordered this particular pack instead of a roll as the squares seemed like they were easier to work with (and very easy to use) and they were good value for money. I also have spares that can be used in other places where I want to keep animals away. To cover the top of the tank I used three full mats plus three others trimmed to a smaller size (easy to do) for a total of 6 mats. , crocheted and holes located on all 4 sides of each rug (2 on each side). These rugs solved my problem 100%, EXCELLENT! Once up, just as fast down, and all salamander sightings are now possible from the ground! Not only that, the mats match the top of the screen, and the black color of the mats goes well with the black painted fish tank and screen cover, so they actually look good. At least they're not ugly. They are VERY light so I don't have to worry about them being too heavy for the screen and I can see through them all the way to the tank which I couldn't with the 'transparent' carpet which wasn't really transparent. . They work so well that we can leave an unaccompanied cat in the house, which we have never dared to do before. I docked a star because the small plugs are very fragile and break very easily. A few squares came with at least one torn off and I lost a few more just sorting the squares. (They come in a stack.) Of course, the squares can be connected with cable ties or cable ties, it's just more convenient to use the connectors provided if they don't come loose.

Pros
  • Repellents and training aids
Cons
  • There are even more interesting options.
