Best Non-Organic Dog Food

Adopting an abused two year old Shih Tzu has been an exciting experience for our family over the past few months. We started giving Aggie Trader Joe Pellets because we felt it was an acceptable, more natural product for both of our dogs. Aggie could never digest TJ's product, so I started researching what natural dog breeders are feeding their dogs. And it looks like a raw meat diet is a viable option and definitely grain free. It was going great for a month until we got a bad batch of ready made raw dog food (super expensive at $60 a week) and we had horrible clams and vomit for 3 days each! So I said forget it. it's not worth it. Then my research led me to the brands Acana/Orijen. I still think this is probably the best quality kibble but after 4 weeks on soft poo from this brand I have found that my little Shih Tzu just can't handle such fatty food. My other dog, a chow chow, did great but didn't care about the taste. The search for answers continued until I came across Dick Van Patten's website about his line of dog food: Natural Balance. I didn't know that some dogs could be allergic to meat. For example, chicken is found in almost all dog foods, and after a few generations (just like soy and wheat in humans), dogs become sensitive to chicken as an ingredient. ON THE FIRST DAY I gave Aggie her duck and potato formula (also grain free - love it!), her poop became hard and there was no more bile vomiting in the mornings. She has been doing this for 10 days now and it has been a wonderful life changing experience. Although I have to say that she doesn't run for food, but eats it when she's hungry. Now our other dog, the chow chow, is begging for it. I started mixing Orijen Granules with NB cans and she eats her whole portion at once. I will change my food to NB once her remaining Orijen is eaten. Love love love for this product.
