Review on πŸ”² PBT Japanese Keycaps: 135 Cherry Profile DYE-Sub White Theme - Minimalist Style for Mechanical Keyboard by Jonathan Arroyo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice set but it has its flaws

I used this key set in a custom keyboard, I have a set of GMK keys for group purchase but they last forever so I wanted to use them in the meantime. nice legend and texture for the PBT keycaps, and for how many different sizes of keyboards this set fits, they're reasonably priced. However, the set looks pretty crooked, especially up close. The bottom and top rows are the most visible (see photo) and you can see how crooked the keycaps are from afar, but since the rest of the rows are really just "top down" it's not that noticeable, but still very noticeable if you look closely. They are also very tight on my switches, when I used a cap remover with aluminum I sometimes had switches that just ripped in half with the lower body still in the plate and the upper body + stem still in the cap. I don't have this problem with a polycarbonate sheet, but with a polycarbonate sheet the switches almost always come out of the board with the cap. I'm afraid that over-tightening may damage your switches. Overall I like the look of the set but there is a risk of damaging the switches and the curvature is a HUGE downside as it is the main appeal for anyone going to the trouble of buying refurbished keycaps that come installed to replace their original keycaps - this is of course aesthetic.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
