Transformed my system

I've been an audiophile for 30 years. About 15 years ago I added a subwoofer and then a couple of subwoofers to my two channel system. I did this because a pair of true full range tweeters is extremely expensive. Usually $15,000 or more. I have a pair of $10,000 speakers that will rival any speaker at any cost down to 32Hz. Below they roll down quickly. Subwoofers fill out the lower bass. For years I used a crossover to control the cutoff of the signal sent to the subwoofers, but let the main speakers run full range. I figured that anything inserted into the signal before the amp would degrade the sound, so I never considered such a crossover. I also thought I had tuned my system and was happy with the sound. I bought this dbx crossover just to play with the expectation that I would either put it away or return it. Instead, I was amazed at the sound improvement. I didn't notice any degradation in audio detail. I like it. A few months ago I installed this crossover between the preamp and amp and was blown away.
