I bought two sets of six champagne glasses for New Year's, twelve in all. Before I used them for the first time, I had already reached nine. I know glass is fragile, but the fragility of these glasses gives this term a new definition. One was hacked right out of the box. I started gently placing the rest in warm soapy water (to wash them before first use). The first two I lowered into the water rolled a few inches toward each other, their edges slapping lightly against each other. Both ended up with cracks matching those that had cracks. I believe in taking good care of your belongings and I've never been rough on them. I find it amazing that 25% of them broke before I even used them. These glasses are very beautiful, but before you buy, be aware that they are very fragile. I expect my (now incomplete) set to last me a time or two before everything breaks. At over $8 a jar I think they should last longer.
