Just the right thickness to protect and maintain a realistic pencil size. I chose this book because it contains 10 tips. I wanted to try a limited number of tips to make sure the hold and texture were right. Writing with extra grip from the tip takes a little getting used to, and I find myself taking it off and putting it back on depending on the task. The tip can be easily removed and replaced. The magnet still holds the stylus to the side of the iPod, albeit with a little less force of course.
