I definitely thought it was a bit bigger. Obviously they measure the distance from the top of the down to one end to the other. It's really more like 12" x 20.5". He's not very soft. It feels like rough fur and looks like small pieces of it are coming off. So I have to keep an eye on this enemy as I can be dangerous to the animal if it eats it. I got this for my cat. The cat sloshes over the length. So if you decide to go with your dog, it is more suitable than a Chihuahua or something. The bottom has good reinforcement which I like and a small hook to use in a kennel.
