Surprisingly good performance for a tiny radio

I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this very small SDR radio, especially considering its low price. With my rather inefficient station antenna I was able to get a good signal from W1AW over 1000 miles and from WWV at about 2000 miles. Even with just the included whip antenna, many stations could be heard. A wide range of modes (AM, FM, USB, LSB - CW works well with SSB modes) and frequencies add to its versatility. With a moderate antenna cable length, it can match the performance of many larger portable shortwave radios. There are also some disadvantages. The screen that displays a lot of information is very small, so it is recommended to use a pocket magnifier. There are no printed instructions or reference guides, so familiarity with radio equipment can be of great help. But there are no "buyer's regrets" here, especially in view of the low acquisition costs. This is a fun little device and I'm glad I have it.

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
