My wife and I bought two of these passport holders for a long trip abroad. My wife went bankrupt in less than a week without warning. The strap attachment didn't appear to be sewn to the suitcase properly, it came loose while walking through the airport. Luckily we saw it fall and she didn't lose her passport (which could have been a real disaster). I tried modifying the strap and putting it through the strap hook but it also broke. The bag didn't seem very well made. For something as important as a passport, you need the best quality. My wallet held up better than my wife's and survived the trip unscathed. However, this did not make up for the broken belt.
