As a senior, I understand what "losing grip" means. However, if my wife asks me to open a jar of jam, I can give in to her. However when I received these devices I tried to open them (according to the embossed instructions on the back) but could not. After trying to open 3 units (out of 6) I gave up and called the company. The customer service rep was very friendly and promptly sent me a refund. She promised to refer my problem to the engineers who designed the device. A few days passed and after being refunded my money I decided to try opening these units. I still couldn't do it with my bare hands, so I clamped the block in a vise. I then used a rubberized cloth to grab the top and twisted it counter-clockwise enough to line up the tiny slots that needed to be lined up to remove the top. However, it then took a sharp chisel to pry off the top far enough to remove it. The time required to remove each parting was about 10 minutes. Once the batteries were installed and the unit secured with magnetized tape, they worked as advertised!
