Our Miniature Dachshund puppy had two problems that we suspected were vitamin or mineral deficiencies: itchy, dry skin with scaly scales, and eating dirt and other things around the house (known as picas). Since all tests and examinations showed that everything else was normal and that she was healthy, we were left with the food. This is a family owned business in Wisconsin and since the dog food business started almost a century ago they have only had 1 recall that happened this month (Fromm wet food recall) which was caused by themselves after testing and finding excess vitamin D in their products had found . This tells me a lot about their honesty as they themselves called the FDA to recall the products despite not having a single case of illness in dogs, and it also tells me a lot about their quality control as they encountered the issue through their own testing . Needless to say we are impressed with this company. Well, as for the food itself, I went with the veggie salmon flavor because the vet said omega 3s might help Emma deal with itchy and dry skin, even though she only eats them for 2 days , we have already noticed that it itches a lot less! She had a pretty poor appetite for a while (we had to add wet dog food so she could eat regular dry food) but she stepped on her bowl of Fromm's food and we didn't need to add anything else for flavor. It also didn't require a transition, which amazed us because she's usually picky.
