Prevents abrasion Good for oral care

I really like this toothpowder. I appreciate the simplicity and the apparent purity of the ingredients. And I can live with the disappointing lack of a refreshing taste in my mouth after brushing with it. (Although the unopened, sealed jar arrived with a strong smell of peppermint oil in such a concentrated + overpowering form that it made me queasy, the actual + taste it leaves in my mouth is flat and faint.) But I mean it much more seriously disturbing is that even after I've made a paste by mixing the powder with water or coconut oil - a mixture that seems smooth enough for fingers or tongue - it actually still contains surprisingly hard and insoluble sand that is very noticeable when I bite on it (otherwise I wouldn't even be aware of it). This sand may be good, but it's still HEAVY! (I'm assuming it came from the ground limestone listed in the ingredients.) I'm willing to bet, just by how it feels when I bite into it, it's significantly harder than the exposed dentin that many have and wear of us due to recession. - and this is what I understand is an even greater risk of serious abrasion damage than enamel. From what I've read, the harder the particles can be, the more abrasive they can be (measured in RDA or Relative Dentin Abrasionness). So, even if you think ground limestone (!) is gentle enough on your tooth enamel, it doesn't help that much more delicate exposed dentin. Well, all I can say is that this was quite an expensive product - - and now I'm afraid to continue using it.
