Excellent range but fatal flaw

Works very well as a long range bluetooth receiver. I didn't check the range limit but my source was up and I had no problem pairing or reconnecting with the receiver down. It was one of two performance criteria I had. I also need a receiver that is always ready to use, including automatic reconnection in the event of a power failure. This receiver fails in this capacity. This receiver shuts down after ten minutes of inactivity, which I believe is a serious design flaw. Most people who buy this type of high-quality Bluetooth receiver probably want to put it somewhere out of sight and expect it to be ready to connect right away. But the way it's designed, you'll have to walk up to it and turn it on manually if you've been out for more than ten minutes. So it doesn't meet one of my two criteria. One of the differences with all other Bluetooth adapters I've used (and I've used *a lot*) is that it's quite large and heavy. That doesn't mean it has to be big, but it's several times larger and heavier than any others I've used. But it also seems to be a lot more durable than any other adapter I've used. If you don't have a lot of space for it, check the specs before you buy. I doubt this will be a problem for most, but there are a few things to consider. It also came with more accessories than any other Bluetooth adapter I've bought (some don't even come with a power cord or charging connector). It comes with power cord, plug, optical cable, RCA cable and RCA phono adapter and phono to phono cable. All other Bluetooth adapters I've used have an optional built-in phono jack (but most don't have an RCA option), and I wish this had a phono jack. But at least you get adapters if you need this connection. If I had to choose one or the other, I would choose RCA plugs with RCA adapter instead of RCA plugs with RCA adapter. Finally, the instruction manual is well written in clear and correct English. There are no weird translation issues here to make you scratch your head. As I said, I haven't tested the transmitter function but expected it to work the same as the receiver function. The way it turns itself off after ten minutes was a deal breaker for me. If it wasn't for that, it would be the best I've ever used. If it doesn't bother you that it switches off so quickly, I can recommend this device without reservation. The catch is the very steep price tag of $110. If you want a wide range and great build quality then this will suit your needs as long as you are happy with the price. If you don't need maximum performance, your needs may be met by a cheaper alternative. *Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
