Previous comments have said that these carcass pillows should only be hand touched up when soiled. When I received my cat pillow it had a few faint stains so I decided to wash it anyway before putting my grandson to bed. I washed it in cold water on a 35 minute cycle and it came out fine (no stains, stitching held up well)! After drying it twice in the car for 20 minutes, I can say that it is as soft as before the wash! I opened the head (nice feature) and found that the filling still needs time to dry, so I'll wait a few days before adding some more filling. Although it's a bit pricey and the girth could be a little bigger, overall I'm happy with the product, especially now that I know it's machine washable.
