It's not really black, more like charcoal, but I was hoping for it and it was true. I ended up returning it because I mainly lift weights and they are 100% NOT squat safe. Well, if you can see your whole crack while running RDL, you understand. I could see that this set is good if you are more cardio based or even want them to rest. But just expect every tilt to represent some kind of exposure. Ok, the compression is good, I like the fit and the color, but I give 3 stars because the description specifically says "Squat Proof".
