Came bundled with D5300. Glad I took it and not 18-55. As a universal whale - a great thing. Some pros: Universal set of focal lengths. Very convenient for travel ("travel zoom"). You can take pictures of both the sea at a wide angle and animals in the zoo at 70-140 mm. Sharp enough (not like fixes, but still) Good build quality (several years of operation - it seems that nothing has come loose yet, does not creak) Some cons: No hood and case included. Thank you for at least putting a normal back cover, and not a pathetic white shipping one, like the 18-55. I bought it separately, the JJC LH-32 hood fits, I have one. A cover is also needed, because it doesn’t fit completely into cases freed from small fixes like 50 mm f / 1.8G, and the “travel zoom” is taken, oddly enough, on trips, and it needs protection. Aperture is not very, but the price is not prohibitive. The picture quality is quite standard, do not expect magical portraits and something like that, there are specialized lenses for this purpose.
