Great alternative to ramps

After trying to use ramps to no avail - even before Charlie's recent knee surgery, our 120lb 6 year old lab refused to use them to to go to the loading area of our SUV after several failed attempts (sliding with every step, leaving long nail marks on rough, "non-slip” surface, not having a ramp with the rear legs etc.) and racing downhill too fast for his condition. This product is a game changer. Charlie is very knowledgeable about stairs and knows exactly what he has to do here instead of freezing at the bottom of a narrow, long and steep ramp and looking puzzled why we want to show him circus tricks. For Charlie's size, the device is fairly small (narrow and short strides) and not very strong, but I wouldn't trade it for a very light weight and small folded size. Ramps, whether foldable or telescoping, have always been difficult to manage and in our XC90 usually occupied the rear passenger seat, which isn't exactly small or space constrained; it unfolds in no time and takes up very little space when folded. The safety cable does not work on our split gates and would like to move to the second step from the top but is held in place by a rivet; I can just make my own cable and attach it to a spot that works best for us. Overall very happy with it, especially compared to alternatives.
