I started using this cleanser 5 years ago when I was taking Accutane and my skin started to blister and flake so other cleansers burned and burned. It was one of the few things that didn't feel like acid when I used it. It really is that gentle. The consistency is liquid gel, contains no sulfates, so does not foam. And it doesn't remove makeup.
