Problems after changing the strap

The adhesive tapes proved to be a good replacement for the broken old one. However, after attaching the straps to the watch (which was easy to do), I noticed that I could no longer look at the face to read the time by simply raising my hand. I'm not sure if it's the band, but that never happened to the old band.
