Just got a new tablet and case for Christmas. (The old tablet lasted over three years without a case and was given to a child.) The tablet slid from a chair with a case about 2 feet (or less) onto the carpet. The screen hit/landed on the rim of the Olive Garden Lidded Baby Cup and fatally damaged the digitizer (LCD) (the screen did not break). The repair costs $379. Buying a new tablet, a different case, and a screen protector. I do not recommend this case. It could be the sensitivity of the tablet, or just a coincidence when everything is against us. In any case, I believe that the case should have protected against this fall. My son and dad use this case for their devices (as well as iPad Mini 4 and Kindle Fire 7"). Their devices. It worked well. Hopefully it protects them (and they have warranties, so they probably never will for you drop).
