Review on πŸ”Œ Legrand Wiremold CDI-5 Corduct Rubber Duct Floor Cord Cover - Ivory, 5ft Length by Ricky Pee

Works but not for show and requires preparation

Although the material is thick (which is good), good quality and works (after preparation as others have recommended) this is not a show. Like many others, my floor cable protector had large visible fringes on the top. Unlike others, I had no ink stains on the top. As I use it in my basement/study and it is dark brown the scuffs are acceptable for work. The manufacturer's video shows that it comes with double sided tape and it looks like the tape is holding it flat. . It will not. Even if duct tape keeps it straight, who wants to stick double-sided tape to hardwood or vinyl floors? And if you have a rug, it will not hold up in any way. The thickness of the material is one of the things I love about it, but it's also what gives it that unwieldy flex. For several days I tried to hang it from the oven ceiling. The curls didn't move. So I did what others suggest. And you follow/use these instructions at your own risk. As you can see in photo 1 I unwrapped it (mine is 15ft) in a large sink. It wasn't easy because he didn't want to relax. You can see in the lower right corner that the product is trying to refold. I left the plug on and turned on the hot water until it was as hot as it could go. Then I turned off the water, put in the cork and ran hot water until it covered the tread. Then I boiled 3 liters of water and carefully poured it into the sink. (In hindsight I don't think I had to add boiling water.) I then let it sit for 15 minutes because you need the heat to fully penetrate the thick material. As you can see in Photo 2, the curl in the lower right corner has disappeared. I then used needle nose plugs to knock the cork out. After the water drained, I took one end with my gloved hands and slowly lifted it up so the water in the tread ran from the other end into the sink. After that I put it on the floor where the residual moisture cannot harm the floor. In my case it was a concrete floor. I then put a heavy weight on each end (see photo 3) as these are the ends where it wants to swirl again. I didn't put any weights in the middle. I left the weights on until the product had completely cooled to room temperature. After removing the weight it was perfectly flat and I was able to install it as shown in Photo 4.
