Time is hard to tell

I bought this for my girlfriend. The watch looks and feels like a quality product. However, the hands can hardly be seen against the background of the front panel. I had to tilt it in all directions, trying to catch the light at an angle that would allow me to tell the time. I will report on its longevity after the first year (if I remember).
