According to AWG (American Wire Gauge) charts, 14 ga stranded wire is 0.073 inch or 1.8542 mm in diameter. , which is LESS than 18 gauge wire. 18 gauge wire is .048 inch in diameter. So this bullshit isn't even 18 gauge, it's somewhere around 19 gauge. A good 14-gauge wire should consist of about 45-50 strands of 30-gauge, and ideally about 100-110 strands of 30-gauge. 34 gauge wire Why, you might ask, is this important? The wire carries electrons well to its "skin" or "outer" area.
