Review on Neewer Bi Color Lighting Flapjack Dimmable by Lisa Ellis

Get this if you need a softbox/fill/fluorescent light on your desk

This is a heavy duty light with a solid metal frame and clean, simple lines, making it suitable for use in the home or office can and not in the studio. disc diameter 46cm, luminous circle 41cm; It's large enough to act as a soft fill light for vlogging and not blind you when it's in your line of sight (at least unless you turn it on fully). The LEDs are built into the frame. , the illuminated surface looks uniform. I think this is a good alternative to the Elgato keyboard light; The main reason I didn't buy the Elgato is that it relies on Wi-Fi and doesn't have manual controls. I can't have my light let down when shooting video due to network connection loss. This lamp comes with both remote control and manual controls on the lamp itself. It also remembers its state when you turn it off. The lamp has a maximum power of 70 watts. For my purposes this is too much; It's quite bright even on the lowest settings. You'll need to buy a stand for this light; I have a Neewer desk clamp that works pretty well. Here's a list of minor criticisms: The cable isn't built into the stand but hangs loose, and the cable between the power supply and the lamp is quite short, leaving the brick hanging in mid-air - The lamp is mostly metal, but the back, the junction box and the pull handles are all black plastic. That's fine for task lighting and really good or weak industrial design, but it could look a little cleaner for home use. Instead of two potentiometers for brightness and color temperature, this lamp has only one button for switching the mode. Two control buttons would be better. The darkest setting is still very bright, and the change in brightness when the color temperature changes from one of the extreme settings (thus turning on the second set of LEDs) is quite sharp. I suspect that using a lower minimum brightness would result in flickering. You really can't use it as a mood light, but the minimum brightness is completely sufficient as a table lamp.

Pros
  • It's something
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance
