Although it is based on Android 8.1, it has a very limited app store. It has the most reading apps, oddly not the Kindle app, but neither does the Google Play Store. I bought this for sheet music apps, not reading books, so I needed access to my music apps from the google play store. To get Google Play Store, you need to download the APK files for Google Play Store, Google Account Manager, Google Services Manager and Google Play Services directly. This is a similar process to that described in many online guides on how to sideload the Google Play Store on Fire tablets. I followed one of these guides with links to apk files and it worked fine. The screen itself is great, the battery life is phenomenal, the included stylus works great in the included Notes app, and the handwriting recognition performance is mind-blowing. when I tested it, but when I tried the pen with Autodesk Sketchbook, the pen seemed to be too slow. As I said, I use this for sheet music and once I have access to these apps through the Google Play Store, it does everything I need. It's a pity, however, that it comes with a very closed app store that has about six apps by default. However, it is easy to get around.
