Review on πŸ„ Top Grain Cowhide Fromm Razor Strop Blade Sharpener, Brown, 2.5 x 23 Inch, IRS127 by Cedric Fam

Revainrating 5 out of 5

On the way, 9 months in use.

I used a few "cheap" starter cords for several years before deciding to upgrade. Utility plays a big role in my book. I took Fromm 9 months ago and love the results. This is a good mix of reasonable price and decent construction. No, it's not ready to wear out of the box: it takes some breaking in and some effort to shape. But then again, if I was looking for a quick and easy shave, I'd probably use double-edged razors rather than straight razors. :DA - quality shave. Well, and there's a certain attraction in all the ceremonies and small grooming chores that come with razor shaving. only before shaving, not after). When I need to touch them up, I run them on a four-way leather strap with a white-green-red mix. And when I need a deeper cut I use Norton 4k/8k and 12k Chinese waterstone. I had no cupping problems with my Fromm. The construction and quality were good, and they were so well made that they were probably still functional a few decades later. As for breaking in, I removed the canvas strap and used the Williams shaving soap base, rubbed it with a glass bottle (Williams has grease, improves suction) and then tied the strap and lathered it up again. For my purposes it worked quite well. My son gave me a few nicks (he was playing "sharpen the razor") so I took a course of natural pumice to even out the nicks. Tell you what, I was far less concerned about it "damaging" the $36 line than if it were a $150 model.
