Simple and effective design for smartphone. It fits large phones (I have an iPhone 8 plus) which is why I bought it. Only one side of the "grippers" actually moves, and the spring is fairly stiff, offering strength to hold heavier, larger phones. Because of its rigidity, it puts a lot of pressure on the Arkon mount itself. Knowing that the base of my (Subaru) Arkon is held in place by a metal screw in a plastic hole, I'm concerned that constant pressure on it will wear down the attachment point. As a result, I have to use two hands to slide the phone into the mount to secure the base. So it's not "one-handed" like I was hoping. My other problem is the "short" mounting arms. I switched to a phone case with a credit card slot on the back. which effectively doubles the thickness of my "phone". The two arms are actually half as long as they appear. The rest of the arm is just soft, pliable rubber. This is normal for a regular phone. But for my thicker case (which pushes my phone away from the mount) it falls into the soft hand area. and the mount often loses traction while driving. As a result, the phone suddenly fell out. I would like the arms to be reinforced to the end of the handle so they can grip and securely hold my thicker case. Conclusion: A great Arkon accessory that works well if you do NOT have a thick case.
