Very high-quality leather. It's not exactly a shoulder bag, it doesn't feel right if you try to just throw it across your chest or back - it's not balanced. He needs room to hook the straps at the bottom center of the bag. I was hoping to get a bag that I can wear across my chest while carrying a hiking pack that doubles as a dual strap backpack. sized like a regular backpack you would use for school (if anyone remembers the gap pockets which were very similar to this shape then it's the same size as these backpacks). I still doubt if I'll leave it because it's a good bag, but you definitely won't be able to carry the bag comfortably.
