I spent a month reviewing various soft wall radiators and small rotomoulded radiators and seeing them in person. I was looking for something easy to transport to store in the car, take to the boat, beach, picnic, etc. Although I know it's difficult to compare the durability of the soft side and the rotational mold, but the portability doesn't go anywhere comparison. After ordering and returning two separate RTIC softside coolers due to quality issues, looking at yeti hoppers and roadies, and seeing multiple performance tests on dozens of coolers, I finally settled on the Engel HD30. When it arrived I could tell right away that the quality surpassed the RTIC softside coolers and was on par with the Yeti Hopper. I like the design better than the Yeti, with a larger opening due to the more rectangular shape versus the conical shape of the funnel. It is easy to carry by the shoulder strap, top straps or side straps. The zipper feels solid and airtight, although not as large and durable as the Yeti. Overall, the cooler looks very well thought out, with high quality and workmanship in every seam. Over $100 less than a hopper of the same size, with the same craftsmanship from a respected company like Engel, no problem. I can't say anything about the performance yet, but will update after use. According to an independent test, this is the most powerful soft cooler yet, but we'll see.
