Disappointed Best in Sports

According to reviews this would be a more economical alternative to Canter Mane & Tail but I am very disappointed. Maybe I'm just stupid? I've been using it for a few weeks now and my mare's mane and tail are rough and brittle. At the gallop I only used it a few times a week and her mane never got tangled. Now, with this thing, she gets the most horrible magic knots the next day, and it's impossible to untie them without tearing your hair.
