Depth measurements not accurate

Dimensions described: 1.2 x 7.1 x 13.5. The actual depth is far from 1.2. It was about 0.75 inches. I bought in combination with a weatherproof electric box that was listed as 1.125 inches. Unfortunately, the depth of the electrical box was also different than the advertised dimensions (closer to 1.5 inches) so I have to change my plans and completely change the installation. How hard is it to get the right measurements.
