Treatment: After a few weeks the smell is completely gone. If you have time to wait and like the style, you can try this. If you need a strap for something that is coming to market soon I would suggest looking for a strap from another supplier/brand. First review: I ordered this and the Grace Karin braided leather belt and they both had a bad smell, kinda like plastic meets gas. It's quite frustrating and I haven't decided yet if I'm going to try airing them out or just sending them back. This belt has a more forgiving fit than a braided belt, presumably because a greater percentage of this belt is elastic rather than worked out. The button closure also means it doesn't rely on tension to stay closed. My waist is about 31 inches and I added 1 inch for the layers of the suit I was planning to wear this with. They fit well, a little tighter than I would like, but I'm sure their large size would be a bit large. I wish they were sized between medium and large so there is some overlap for those of us who fall in the medium size.
