now i got this because i was working on some craft projects. I needed suede straps (those are TOYS FOR CATS, get your thoughts out of the gutter) so I started appreciating it's here and there, considered a trip to Tandy Leather and finally decided I'd try this stuff. I figured it was cheap enough that if that doesn't work I'll take the real stuff and give it to my daughters' Boy Scout troop to make friendship bracelets or something. as long as i like it I made some toys for the cat (who loves her) and I will take her to my office to play with or make myself play with her. I have quite a few left so probably a few more toys before I give them to my kid. They are pleasant to the touch and resemble ordinary suede thongs. A little tight, but not bad so far. The reel is huge compared to the normal real leather reel and much cheaper. From afar, behind a jeweler's loupe, you probably won't notice that it's not the original. The dimensions are very stable, both in width and in thickness. Not sure about the tensile strength - I haven't taken it apart and the cat hasn't chewed on it yet.
