I have a rather big cat and when I hung it up it was delighted. It has three pre-drilled mounting holes. I was able to fit the center hole into the stud with a stud finder and use anchors on the other two holes. Very stable, well-made shelf, natural wood, no chipboard. The rug is sized true to size, and there is velcro on the back for fastening. It scratched it, but it hadn't come off yet. I think the rug will be easy to wash or vacuum. I am very satisfied, definitely worth the price unless you are a carpenter.
