My 6 year old son plays youth football and soccer. We bought this product for these sports. the first day after i washed everything, my son walked around the house all day and banged on it *sigh*. As you can imagine, he spent a lot of time looking for different ways to hit himself to see if it hurt. In his words, "Mom, this thing protects my eyes completely." The product has survived multiple washes and walks. On the other hand, we had to travel quite a bit with our football team and it was very convenient that we could just take out the cup after the game and he could just put his underpants on as underwear on the way home; don't complain from the back seat *woohoo! I bought him size XS, he weighs about 50-55 pounds and is very skinny; We usually buy 7s jeans with an adjustable waist at Children's Place (this should help some of you with your sizing). It was the perfect size for him. Oh yeah, I recommend buying an extra pack of 2 shorts if you exercise several times a week; just a convenience for the person doing the laundry. Update: a year later and we're still going strong. Excellent quality!
