This was a great size for our Syrian hamster. We didn't use the included "litter" but dust-free play sand. Our little ones immediately started playing/bathing in it and then used it as a smaller box. It's the perfect size for a hamster, it's good that it sits in a corner to save space. Save the tie included in the set. We use it to tie to the side when our cage is because the hooks that come with it don't work with ours. It wasn't a big deal using the swivel tie to keep it in place. Very easy to care for, our hamster loves it and used it right away.
